Emily Martin (The Black Apple) does amazing paintings and this piece is from her show The Deep Green Sea at Land Gallery.  She says about this piece, “One of my favorite things in all the world are sea monsters, ancient & cryptozoological alike (lake monsters aren't too shabby, either.) This scene depicts a brave ship's attempt to snare one, and it didn't go terribly well.”
